 2007
My name is Mike Wilps Missionary to Paraguay South America. We have been here since the fall of 2005 and God is blessing. We have started a Church in the city of Villeta and working on our second work. We have men Called by God to preach the Gospel. I really Believe with all of my heart all of this is because of God and His Word the Reina Valera Gomez.  It has never been easier to win souls to Christ, the doctrine of hell has never been clearer, Saved Paraguayan men have never been so passionate for Christ and His Word. “I have personally used other Spanish Bibles in the pulpit, but not any longer. I am now convinced that the RVG is the Word of God for the Spanish speaking people.”

2009
Praise God! By Gods Grace we have started two Churches and a Bible Institute. Many souls are trusting Jesus Christ as personal Saviour.
We are using the RVG Spanish Bible.

There is a lot of confusion today about which Spanish bible should be used.  The spanish Bible issue is a very important topic, and I believe the proof listed in the article above will help you in your decison.

Most bible believing churches have heard mainly about four different Spanish versions of the Reina-Valera the 1602, 1865, 1909 and 1960. Even though there are many other versions.  Which of these Spanish bibles are correct?  Which Spanish bible should all Spanish speaking people and ministries use?  Which Spanish bible is true to the textus receptus and masoretic texts which our blessed  King James Bible came from?

Note: The texus receptus and masoretic texts are the Greek and Hebrew Manuscripts which came from the Apostles and prophets. They are the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts where God preserved His Word. Any Bible that has been correctly translated from the Texus Receptus and Masoretic texts are good Bibles. The RVG has been correctly translated 100% from these manuscripts.

  • Testimonies on the RVG:

The Trinitarian Bible Society on the RVG

During the annual business meeting of the Dean Burgon Society, Dr. Humberto Gomez gave a report on the progress of the RVG project.  Dr. Waite and the Council members of the DBS were pleased to hear how well the RVG has progressed.  Over 70,000 full RVG Bibles have been distributed worldwide in the past 2 years.  That's not including New Testaments and John & Romans.

What was even more pleasing to hear was the report on the RVG given by a representative of the Trinitarian Bible Society.  Dr. Thomas Gilmore is the President of the Brazil division of the TBS.  He was present to give a progress report and to answer some questions and concerns of the DBS in regards to the revision of the Almeida Portuguese Bible.  Before discussing the Portuguese Bible Dr. Gilmore read a written letter from the Executive President of the TBS in which he made the following statements:

"The Reina Valera Gomez Bible is in our opinion the best Bible available in the Spanish language at the present time."

"We are aware that the latest revision of the Reina-Valera Gomez Bible has been released.  As soon as we were made aware of this news we ordered a copy of it.  The Trinitarian Bible Society views the work of Dr. Gomez as most admirable, and we applaud his efforts to provide the Hispanic world with a better Bible than that which had been previously available."

The Sword of the Lord on the RVG

Recently the Sword of the Lord has decided to take a public stand on the King James Bible.  Though the SOTL have stood strong for other areas of Fundamentalism, they have not always stood as strongly for the KJV as they do now.  Dr. Shelton Smith, the Editor of the SOTL, recently published an excellent article entitled What Is That Book You Hold In Your Hands.  This message outlined his position on the KJV as being without error and therefore superior to all other modern versions.  We applaud Dr. Smith for taking a stronger stand on the King James Bible.

I was especially pleased to see Dr. Shelton Smith's positive statement on the RVG in that article in which he said:

"Now in recent days, there is a Reina Valera Gómez Spanish Bible. Humberto Gómez has carefully aligned the 1909 Reina Valera with the King James text. Reports coming to me indicate that the RVG is getting strong support and wide acceptance among the Spanish brethren."

POSITIVE FEEDBACK CONCERNING THE SPANISH BIBLE

Since we've put this site up, we have had lots of positive feedback concerning our position on the Spanish Bible.  We are nothing but God and his word is everything.  And so we rejoice that God has been able to use such undeserving servants as us to help get the word out.  Support for the RVG (Reina Valera Gomez) Spanish Bible is growing on a daily basis.  What a joy to see this great work of God taking place right before our eyes.  Here's some of the feedback we've received:

From Mexico - "I am a missionary in Mexico. I truly enjoyed your position on the Spanish Bible that is on your website. I too use the RVG."

From Paraguay - "I just have recently became good friends with Bro Humberto Gomez through the Spanish Bible "RVG". I was using the 1865 Spanish bible untill I found many errors. I did not have peace in my heart using this bible. The 1865 really attacks The word "Hell" Infierno in the old testament, the word "Wife" esposa just to name a few. I started to study the issue every day for almost 2 years. I am conviced that the RVG "Gomez" is the Word of God for the Spanish speaking people. God has blessed Greatly!! We have been in Paraguay now almost 2 years many souls are recieving Christ and we are starting a second work. The Holy Spirit is testifying to this Bible. The Christians here are accepting the RVG as the Word of God. They Read it, believe it, love it. Amen Glory to God!"

From Costa Rica - "Dear Brother, I just read your article on the web. I am in full agreement with you about the situation and especially appreciate your spirit showing the fallacy of the "fights" among fundamentalists due to pride, not being able to face the issue honestly and calmly, rather shouting insults. I am a church planter, have been in Germany and am going to be taking trips back and forth to Costa Rica this year starting a church with Bro. *****. We are planning on using Bro. Gomez' edition, which I noticed now comes as a revision of the Antigua. A good move, I think. I have communicated a couple of years ago with him by eMail and appreciated his spirit about it also."  (This Missionary speaks 4 languages fluently:  Spanish, Portuguese, German, & English.)

From Guatemala - "I would say that time, not argument, will be the determing factor as to the credibility and acceptance of the RVG project. ....I have polled many hispanic preacher around the world who welcome it with open arms. In February of this year, he (Bro. Gomez)was given the opportunity to speak before a congress of hispanic fundamentalist leaders from USA, Mexico, Central and South America representing not just Baptists, but old time Methodists, Missionary Alliance, Bible Presbiterian, and Bible churches as well. This group has stood firmly for the 1909 Antigua ever since UBS began promoting W&H in the early 1950's. After the first presentation was given by Dr Gomez, the first reaction was one of caution, but after the week progressed, the delegates had an opportunity to compare verses from RVG (2nd edition) and 1909 and the overwhelming approval and support for the RVG was made known to all by the group's leader. No only that, but the leading Christian radio station in Guatemala has now publicly endorsed it, and is promoting it daily."

From Peru - I appreciate anyone that has the heart to study out the Spanish Bible issue and take a stand for the purity of the Word of God in any language. May God Bless you as
you strive forward for His honour and His glory.

Now, I stand for the perfect and preserved Words of the KJB, and the RVG, brother, let me tell you, IT IS PERFECT! I praise the Lord for what he is done, giving me his perfect words in spanish!  Tanto amo y agradezco al Senor por lo que aun sigue obrando, y me gustaria continuar contactando con usted, recordandole que oro por usted."  (Translated in the next paragraph.)

“My dear brother in the faith, I come to you with cordial greetings from the Republic of Paraguay in South America, wishing upon you the rich blessings of the Lord upon your life and the ministry which you will begin.  I, Nelson Gimenez, greet you from an Independent Baptist Church in the city of Villeta, a city which is found 45 minutes from the capitol which is Asuncion.    The reason for which I write to you is because I visited your website where I found that you use the RVG 2004, and is a friend of Humberto Gomez. Since I love this man of God with all of my heart, whoever is a friend of his, even moreso one who is in the mission-field, needs to know that I am praying for him.  And even though I don’t know you, if you use the Bible that I defend unto death, know that I am here for you….I was ignorant to the reality of the Bible versions in English as well as Spanish.  Now I stand for the perfect and preserved Words of the KJB and the RVG, brother, let me tell you, IT IS PERFECT!  I praise the Lord for what he is done, giving me his perfect words in Spanish!  I love and appreciate the Lord so much for the work that he is still doing.  I would like to continue to be in contact with you reminding you that I pray for you."

From Costa Rica - "On August 13, a group of students from Champion Baptist College and I flew to Costa Rica.  The Lord blessed us with some consecrated young people who were a great blessing to the work, passing out tracts, witnessing, singing etc.  Since the middle of August we have seen some 28 people saved, more than 35 new people have attended services and at least 18 people have come 2 or more times already.  We have elected to use the newly published revision of the 1909 Bible produced by Bro. Humberto Gomez.  We are using it in the John and Romans edition we pass out, as well as for preaching and public reading.  We are thankful for a printed Bible that is faithful to the Received Text and praise the Lord for the good reception it has had so far. "

(Translated in the next couple paragraphs.)

"Everything started when I began to read the book The Transmission Of The Text Of The New Testament And Our Bibles Of Today by Rudulf Ebertehäuser.  For years I used the RV 1960 and was very content but when I was reading this book I found out that the RV 1960 does not follow the Textus Receptus faithfully but rather there are verses that lean upon the Critical Text. I would ask myself "how is it possible that for years no one has told me anything?"  I have been in different churches yet no one has ever said anything to me referring to this subject.

I started searching through the Internet and I found websites referring to this subject.  First I enquired the 1909 RV and even though it is a Bible more faithful than the 1960 RV, I found words difficult to comprehend because of their antiquity.  I continued searching and I was sent an 1865 RV.  This version I liked very much because it was faithful to the Received Text, but it also had words of the antiquated Castilian.  I consulted this with brethren in other churches and they told me that for the time being outside of the 1909 and 1865 there were no other revisions.  Before giving up, I continued searching and I found another revision edited in Columbia SEVA.  I contacted them to get a Bible but they told me that it was too expensive to send them by mail so I left that for the moment.  But I tried one more time and this time I finally found the RVG on the website www.rices4peru.com.  I downloaded it and I was comparing it with e-sword.  I compared the well-known verses like Luke 2:22, Dan. 3:25, II Kings 10:25, I Cor. 10:9, Heb. 10:34, and many others that the RV 1960 (without understanding the intention) changed.  In what I have been able to prove, the RVG follows the Textus Receptus faithfully.  We Spanish-speaking Christians were in need of a Bible faithful to the Castilian.  This is my commentary from Spain.  Greetings."
